The Finished Sketch

Steve explained the importance of getting enough of the color relationships in the sketch to create a finished painting based on the sketch. He suggested that students either take photos or make a drawing during another session to record details to be used in the finished painting. He also cautioned them to consider the sketch a tool for the final painting, and to be warey of trying to make a tiny painting, which could distract from the purpose of capturing the general effect of the subject.
